Is it possible to be scientist and christian?
"And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight." — Philippians 1:9.
Is it possible to be a believer in Christ Jesus and the Holy Bible and, at the same time, be a scientist? Does faith affect scientific output? What we have seen in practice is that it is possible to be a scientist and a Christian. One of the most famous today is Francis Collins, who was the managing director of the Human Genome Project (responsible for mapping human DNA). He is the author of the book: "The Language of God".
In this book, he proposed theistic evolution. In this view, evolution occurs guided by God. He believes in the literal death and resurrection of Christ. He is indeed a Christian and has excellent scientific output. It is also possible to be a good Christian creationist scientist. These are those who believe in creation in six days or in geological periods.
An example of a good Christian creationist scientist would be Dr. Todd Charles. He is a biologist and researcher. A prolific author in the field of baraminology (the study of the types created in the Bible). We can also mention several scientists throughout history who believed in some kind of God, although not always the biblical Christian God. Some of them are Albert Einstein, Newton, Pasteur, among others.
