What is christian doctrine?

What is christian doctrine?

''And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.'' Acts 2:42

In the Apologetics and Theological Articles section, I already talk a little about Christian doctrine, but I decided to create a specific section so that you can learn and absorb the theology of Christ. Christian doctrine is nothing more than the teachings of Jesus and his apostles.

The main ones include the doctrine of the Trinity (that God is triune in personality and unique in essence: Father, Son and Holy Spirit), the dual nature of Christ (Christ is 100% God and 100% man at the same time), the inspiration of the Bible (the Bible is God's revelation to men regarding spirituality and ethics), love for one's neighbor (in the spiritual and social aspects), the new birth (which is the transformation of life that the Holy Spirit works in a person), baptism (which is the public testimony, through the symbolism of water, that the person died to the world and was born to Christ), the Lord's Supper (which is a memorial of the work of Christ accomplished on the cross), among others.

You may be thinking, "Why learn Christian doctrine?" Christian doctrine civilizes and humanizes individuals. When a person is in the "world," they often do not care about anyone and do not have mercy on anyone. Some even rejoice in the misfortune of others (although not everyone acts like this). When one converts to Christ, one needs to study the commandments of Jesus to learn to have empathy for others and to respect basic rules of coexistence.

Another reason would be the fact that a Christian has to know Christianity. Imagine a Jew who does not know the basics of Jewish doctrine? Imagine a Muslim who does not know anything about what Muhammad taught? The same principle applies to Christians. If this is your case, there is no need to despair. Keep following our videos and articles and you will learn.

The average time to learn and internalize the teachings of Christ is usually three months to a year. May you learn the treasures of Christ's teachings and grow in your spiritual life.
